What Can You Do With Touch Mode?

Author: AIVELA TeamAug 18, 2026

Touch Mode lets your ring become a small remote control. With simple gestures on the black touch area, you can send commands to a compatible phone, tablet, or computer without reaching for the screen every time. Depending on the device, operating system, connection protocol, selected mode, and App you are using, that may mean controlling music, moving through short videos, or turning pages while reading.

A small interaction can preserve a moment

A supported gesture may help with a compatible device when reaching for its controls would interrupt what you are doing. Choose the mode for that moment, then turn it off when it no longer serves you. Touch Mode is useful when it reduces friction in an actual task, not because every moment needs another interface.

It is not a tiny touchscreen

AIVELA RING PRO does not run phone Apps inside the ring. Touch Mode sends input commands that the connected device and active App decide how to interpret.

That distinction explains both its flexibility and its limits. The same gesture may perform different actions in different modes. A command that works in a music player may not have the same meaning in a reading App. Some controls require the device to be unlocked, the target App to be active, or an accessibility or input setting to be enabled.

The current command list in My Ring > Touch Mode > How To Use is the most reliable guide for your device and software version.

What Touch Mode can help you control

Supported actions vary, but common use cases can include:

  • Music and photo: control compatible playback and taking photos without repeatedly picking up your phone;
  • Short videos: move through content when the current App and protocol support the mapped command;
  • Reading and presentation: turn pages or move through a document on a supported phone or tablet;

These are categories of use, not a promise that every command works in every App. Touch Mode relies on the control protocol supported by the connected device. Some phone models, operating-system versions, Apps, or security settings may not support a particular action.

Touch Mode is not limited to one phone

Touch Mode can work with compatible phones, tablets, PCs, and other devices that accept the supported control input. This makes the ring useful in more than one setting: listening while walking, reading on an iPad, or controlling compatible content on a computer.

Compatibility should always be tested on the device you plan to use. A product category such as “Android phone” or “Windows PC” contains many hardware makers, system versions, Bluetooth implementations, and App behaviors. Support on one device does not guarantee identical behavior on another.

Turn Touch Mode on when you want to use it

Touch Mode is designed to be an active choice:

  1. Open My Ring > Touch Mode in the AIVELA App.
  2. Turn the mode on.
  3. Follow the setup shown for your device and operating system.
  4. Open How To Use to review the current gesture-to-command mapping.
  5. Practice the gestures in the intended App before relying on them during normal use.

Actively turning the mode on tells the ring that movement across the touch area should now be interpreted as control input. It also helps keep ordinary handling separate from moments when you actually want to control another device.

Turn it off when you are finished

When Touch Mode remains active, an unintended brush, object, water droplet, or other change near the optical surface may sometimes resemble deliberate input. Keeping the mode on also uses additional power.

Turn Touch Mode off when you are no longer using it. This simple habit:

  • reduces accidental commands;
  • helps preserve battery life;
  • prevents ordinary contact from being interpreted as an intended gesture.

Turning the mode off does not disable AIVELA's health tracking functions.

Make gestures easier to recognize

For convenient control, the index finger is recommended and the black touch area should sit where your thumb can reach it naturally. Use a deliberate, light gesture across the intended area rather than repeatedly pressing hard.

Keep the black optical surface clean, dry, and free from residue. Scratches, abrasion, trapped moisture, or damage can reduce its ability to read movement. The touch area is an optical lens, not a mechanical button; pressing harder cannot repair a poor optical path.

If a command does not work

Check the simplest possibilities first:

  1. Confirm that Touch Mode is on and the ring is connected to the intended device.
  2. Check How To Use for the active mode and current command mapping.
  3. Confirm that the target device is unlocked and the relevant App is active when required.
  4. Review operating-system permissions, accessibility options, or input settings shown in the setup guide.
  5. Clean and dry the optical touch area, then try a deliberate gesture again.
  6. Turn Touch Mode off and on, or reconnect the ring if needed.

If the same command continues to fail, it may be a compatibility issue rather than a damaged ring. If every touch function stops working, especially after visible lens damage or water ingress, contact AIVELA Support.

A useful expectation for compatibility

Touch Mode gives a small wearable access to the controls that another device makes available. It cannot override an App, operating system, or hardware platform that does not accept the command.

Expect the experience to evolve with firmware, AIVELA App updates, operating-system changes, and third-party Apps. Use the current in-App instructions as the source of truth for exact commands.

Touch Mode is most useful when it feels intentional: turn it on, make the gesture, and turn it off when the moment is over.
